Introduction:

Mungpoo is a small town in the Rangli Rangliot CD Block in the Darjeeling Sadar Subdivision of the Darjeeling district in West Bengal, India. It is known for its natural beauty, cinchona plantation, and its association with the famous Nobel Prize winner Rabindranath Tagore. Tagore spent time during the last years of his life. How to reach Mungpoo?

Siliguri to Mungpoo

If you are traveling by air, you must first land at Bagdogra Airport. If you are traveling by train, you need to arrive at New Jalpaiguri station. After reaching both locations, you should book a cab to Mungpoo. The distance from Siliguri to Mungpoo is approximately 55-60 km. Along this route to Mungpoo, you will travel on NH 10, which provides a fresh experience. The road runs right alongside the Teesta River, offering a thrilling journey. Upon reaching Rambi Fatak, you should take left towards Mungpoo.

Darjeeling to Mungpoo.

Those coming from Darjeeling should take a left after reaching Jorebungalow. After taking Rishi Road, upon reaching the 3rd Mile Fatak, take a right towards Mungpoo. This road is quiet and peaceful, surrounded by dense forests. Along this route, you will come across the Rhododendron Park in Siksin Village. From this park, you can see the mighty Kanchenjunga and nearby mountains. After this, you will reach Mungpoo.

The best time to visit is totally up to you. Some people are willing to visit in summer, and some are in winter. In both seasons, you can visit and take advantage of its beauty. In the summer seasons, nature is in full swing, all with a greenery view; you can see seasonal water streams and take relief from the scorching heat.

In the winter season, nature often presents clear and sunny days, though there is less greenery compared to summer, and the weather is cold. It’s a great time to easily explore nearby places on your own. Winter is also the peak season for oranges, as it is their harvesting time, so you can visit nearby orange gardens.

Rabindra Bhawan: Rabindra Bhawan is one of the famous places to visit in Mungpoo, and it is associated with the last journey of Nobel prize winner Rabindranath Tagore. Many people came here to visit about his life and his belongings. The entry fee for Rabindra Bhawan is Rs 25/- per person. Sunday is closed and the rest of the days are open.

Orchid House: Orchid House is one of the famous tourist places, which is 2-3 km away from Reshep Bazar. Various orchids and other flowering plants are used to see, and from this place, you can see the panoramic view. The entry fee for Orchid house is RS 30/- per person.
